When one says ‘catches win matches’, they are not entirely wrong. Surely, the game needs everyone to perform, but one spectacular catch can change the course of the game.
The same took place in the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC). In the 33rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in UAE, SRH skipper Kane Williamson did just that.
His fielding prowess helped him get rid of the dangerous Prithvi Shaw. It was when Khaleel Ahmed bowled a delivery outside off stump, and Shaw went for a wild one-handed heave.
Upon witnessing the catch by the 31-year-old, former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar who was commentating in the match, quickly reminded everyone that former Indian skipper Kapil Dev took a similar catch during the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
However, the batsman was not in complete control of the shot, and the ball flew in the air and, fans saw Kane Williamson pull off his master class. The captain who was stationed at mid-on ran backwards a fair distance and kept his eyes on the ball. He soon completed the sprint with a wonderful sliding catch.but after his brilliant effort, they lost the match.
