1

Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma made history by becoming the first Indian batsman to hit 400 sixes in T20 cricket. On Tuesday in Sharjah, the 34-year-old reached the milestone against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 51 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

Except for Rohit, no other Indian batsman has smashed more than 350 sixes in the limited-overs game. Suresh Raina (325) of Chennai Super Kings is the second Indian on the record of most sixes, followed by Virat Kohli (320) of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and MS Dhoni of Chennai Super Kings (304). Rohit has 133 sixes for the Indian national team and 227 in the IPL. In the Champions League T20, he smashed 16 sixes, while he hit another 24 sixes in subsequent T20s.

Chris Gayle, the seasoned West Indian batsman, leads the list of most sixes in the T20s with a phenomenal total of 1042.

Gayle is the only batsman to knock more than 1000 sixes in the history of the game.

Kieron Pollard (758) of the West Indies is second on the list, followed by Andre Russell (510), Brendon McCullum (485), Shane Watson (467), and AB de Villiers (434).

Rohit struck 22 runs off 13 balls as MI comfortably knocked down RR’s 91-run goal with eight wickets to spare on Tuesday. Inflicting a devastating setback on RR, MI hit the winning runs in the ninth over of their innings.

MI’s chances of making the playoffs were strengthened, but RR’s suffered a huge setback.
