SRH v MI: Ishan Kishan Scores Fastest Fifty Of The Season
Ishan Kishan has given Mumbai Indians a strong start in their final league encounter of the IPL 2021 in Abu Dhabi against SunRisers Hyderabad. In the process, the wicketkeeper-batter completed a half-century in just 16 balls, the fastest by a Mumbai Indians player in the IPL. Kishan previously shared the record for the fastest fifty for MI with Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard. All three batters, including Pollard twice, got half-centuries off 17 balls. This is also the fastest fifty of IPL 2021, surpassing Pollard’s earlier this season effort.
The performance came on a day when Mumbai Indians needed to score a huge total and beat SunRisers Hyderabad by 171 runs or more to have a chance to make it to the game. On his path to breaking his personal record, Kishan hit eight boundaries and two enormous sixes.
Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul holds the record for the fastest IPL fifty, which he achieved in just 14 deliveries against Delhi Capitals in 2018.
Kishan’s 50 is the joint third-fastest in the IPL’s history.
