Afghanistan is looking to get back to winning ways against Namibia
Afghanistan will try to bounce back from their loss to Pakistan and return to winning ways when they face debutants Namibia in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. Namibia will be anxious to continue their fantastic run in the T20 World Cup. Afghanistan has demonstrated that it is not a team to be underestimated. They have a world-class spin attack led by Rashid Khan, who has honed his trade while playing in several T20 tournaments throughout the world, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and captain Mohammad Nabi. In their first two matches, the powerful spinning attack has been on full display.
In their tournament opener, they absolutely bamboozled Scotland, and on Friday night, they pushed an in-form Pakistan side to the edge.
The Afghan batsmen, who are playing a daring kind of cricket similar to the big-hitting West Indies squad, are supporting their spinners.
Afghanistan attacked Pakistan’s bowling attack with all guns blazing. Nabi and Gulbadin Naib contributed 71 in the last 45 balls to set a challenging total despite losing wickets at regular intervals.
It would have been difficult for Pakistan to chase down their score if they had added 20 runs to their total. Despite the five-wicket loss against Pakistan, captain Nabi claims that the team’s morale is strong going into their third match.
“We’ve only played two games, one of which we won (against Scotland), and today’s game was a close one, with Pakistan winning in the end.”
“This game has a lot of nice aspects; we’ll take the positive aspects and move on to the next three games.” We’ll do well inshallah, and team morale is good,” he stated. Namibia, on the other side, will be hoping to extend its winning streak.
Everyone in the competition has been shocked by the country, which has a population of 2.5 million people and only five cricket pitches.
The team has managed to write a spectacular win over Scotland in their first Super 12 encounter, following defeats to the Netherlands and Ireland in the qualifications.
While their bowlers did an excellent job limiting Scotland to 109 runs, their hitters had to dig deep to reach the mark.
Namibia, on the other hand, must raise its game if it is to remain competitive with the best teams in the world, as skipper Erasmus is well aware.
“From here on out, we must raise our game. We are looking forward to the task. Hopefully, we will be able to perform on those days “After the encounter against Scotland, Erasmus remarked.
