After Delhi Capitals’ Narrow Loss To Chennai Super Kings, Prithvi Shaw Says, “MS Dhoni Is Something Different”
The Delhi Capitals tried everything they could to reach the final of the IPL 2021, but their efforts were in vain as MS Dhoni’s magnificent finisher’s performance gave Chennai Super Kings the victory. Dhoni scored 18 runs off only six deliveries to lead CSK to their ninth IPL final. DC, on the other hand, are still in contention for a spot in the summit clash, as they will compete in Qualifier 2.
DC may have lost a close match, but it wasn’t all doom and gloom for the team, as they put on a number of strong displays. Opening batsman Prithvi Shaw shined with a quickfire half-century, scoring 60 runs off just 34 deliveries to get his team off to a fantastic start. Shaw stated that he expects the team to bounce back stronger after the game.
“We need to support each other right now. Whether we win or lose, the entire team is accountable for our performance. In the following match, we’ll aim to come back stronger. For the team, it’s a difficult loss to accept. However, we still have one more match to qualify for the Final, and I have faith in each and every member of the team. Shaw responded to a question on MS Dhoni’s 18-run innings in the death overs, saying, “Everyone knows MS Dhoni is a one-of-a-kind player. We’ve seen him complete games numerous times, and it’s nothing new for him or for us to witness. When he hits, he is unquestionably deadly. I consider myself really fortunate to be in this environment and to have the opportunity to observe him as a batsman and a leader. He snatched the game from our grasp.”
Shaw has scored 461 runs in 14 IPL 2021 matches and is the franchise’s second-highest run-scorer this season.
The Delhi Capitals will compete in Qualifier 2 for a spot in the IPL 2021 Final against the winner of the Eliminator match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.
