After the India-Pakistan match, Waqar Younis apologised for his “Namaz” remark
Former Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis apologised on Wednesday after making a controversial comment while speaking to a Pakistani television network. Younis made the remark during Pakistan’s 10-wicket victory over India in their T20 World Cup opener in Dubai on Sunday. Many fans, pundits, and former cricketers were outraged by the remark, which many felt offensive. On Wednesday, Younis apologised on Twitter, claiming he made the comment “in the heat of the moment” and that it was a “genuine mistake.”

Younis’ contentious statement was in response to Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan doing namaz during the game against India. His statements did not sit well with fans all throughout the subcontinent.
In the heat of the moment, I said something which I did not mean which has hurt the sentiments of many. I apologise for this, this was not intended at all, genuine mistake. Sports unites people regardless of race, colour or religion. #apologies 🙏🏻
