After the Namibia match, former Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan will retire from all formats
After Afghanistan’s T20 World Cup Super 12 encounter against Namibia on Sunday, senior batsman Asghar Afghan will retire from all formats of the game. On Saturday, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed the former captain’s retirement on its Twitter account.
ACB tweeted, “Afghanistan’s ex-captain Asghar Afghan who holds the highest winning streak as a captain in T20 internationals surpassing Indian legend MS Dhoni by one extra win decides to bid farewell with all formats of cricket in Afghanistan’s third match against Namibia at @T20WorldCup”

After making his debut in 2009, the right-handed batsman has appeared in six Tests, 114 One-Day Internationals, and 74 Twenty-20 Internationals. In Tests, he has 440 runs at 44 in tests, 2424 runs at 24.73 in ODIs, and 1351 runs at 21.79 in T20Is.
Afghanistan won their first match by 130 runs against Scotland before losing by five wickets to Pakistan in the ongoing T20 World Cup so far.
