Ingredients:
• Medium apple, grated – 1
• Refined flour (maida) – 1 cup
• Butter ½ cup + to grease
• Sugar – ½ cup
• Eggs – 2
• Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
• Baking powder – 1 tsp
• Milk – ¼ cup
• Brown sugar – ¼ cup
• Cinnamon powder – ½ tsp
• Nutmeg powder – ½ tsp
• Jam for decoration
Method:
• Preheat oven to 180º C.
• Take butter in a mixing bowl, add sugar and eggs and whisk till light and fluffy.
• Add flour, vanilla essence and baking powder and mix well.
• Add milk and mix well.
• Grease a cake tin with a little butter.
• Sprinkle half the brown sugar, cinnamon powder and nutmeg powder.
• Top it with apple and sprinkle the remaining brown sugar, cinnamon powder and nutmeg powder.
• Put the batter in the cake tin and tap gently.
• Place the tin in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes.
• Bring the tin out of the oven and let it cool a bit before demoulding it onto a serving platter.
• Dilute the jam with a little water and put it into a piping bag.
• Pipe large circles on the surface of the cake and put a little blob in the centre of each circle.
• Serve.
