As Chennai Super Kings’ openers put on a show in the IPL final against Kolkata Knight Riders, Ruturaj Gaikwad edges Faf Du Plessis

In the IPL 2021 final, Faf Du Plessis showed his brilliance and power by scoring 86 runs off 59 balls to lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a massive total of 192/3 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was removed after scoring 32 runs off 27 deliveries, had a 61-run partnership with du Plessis. As he attempted to knock a six, du Plessis was removed off the final delivery of CSK’s innings. As a result, the seasoned South African missed out on moving up the Orange Cap list past his starting partner.

Gaikwad will conclude the league with 635 runs from 16 innings and will be awarded the Orange Cap at the conclusion of the final because no KKR batsman will be able to match his total. Despite the fact that he had the most competition from his opening partner, du Plessis finished with 633 runs in 16 innings. This has been a fantastic season for the partnership, as they have scored more than half of CSK’s total runs, which has been the foundation of the team’s success this season.

Gaikwad’s runs have come at a 45.35 average and a 136.26 strike rate. Throughout the season, he scored a century and four half-centuries. On the other hand, Du Plessis has been at his best, scoring six half-centuries and averaging 45.21 with a strike rate of 138.20.

KL Rahul, the captain of the Punjab Kings, was the leading run scorer at the end of the league phase, with 628 runs from 13 innings at an incredible average of 62.60.
