Bangladesh’s Strange Dismissal of Andre Russell

West Indies’ attempt to establish a huge total against Bangladesh in the ongoing Super 12 match in Sharjah for the T20 World Cup 2021 was thwarted when Taskin Ahmed caused one of the greatest run-outs in history to dismiss all-rounder Andre Russell. Roston Chase played a wonderful straight drive directly at the bowler in the 13th over of the game, and the bowler was lucky to get the tiniest of touches with his toe. The ball hit the stumps after being deflected. Russell had backed up too far on the other end and was unable to return in time, allowing Bangladesh to get rid of him for a duck. There was not a single legitimate delivery faced by the all-rounder.

The scoring rate was significantly slowed by this wicket. Chase scored 39 runs off 46 balls, but Nicholas Pooran pushed the scoreboard further with 40 runs off just 22 balls.

West Indies scored 142/7 in their 20 overs, with Jason Holder scoring 15 runs off five balls.

Mustafizur Rahman, Mahedi Hasan, and Shoriful Islam each took two wickets.

Islam, in particular, was outstanding, allowing only 20 runs in four overs.

Both teams had lost their first two games of the T20 World Cup, and a loss in this game could be the final nail in the coffin for their ambitions of reaching the semi-finals.
