Fabian Allen, the West Indies’ all-rounder, has been ruled out, and Akeal Hosein has been named as his replacement

West Indies, the defending champions, have had to make a change to their 15-man team for the present T20 World Cup. Due to an ankle injury, all-rounder Fabian Allen has been ruled out of the tournament, and West Indies have named Akeal Hosein as his replacement. “The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 Event Technical Committee has approved Akeal Hosein as a replacement for Fabian Allen in the West Indies team,” according to an ICC press release.
On October 23, the West Indies, who have already qualified for the Super 12 stages, will begin their championship defence against England.

Gudakesh Motie, an uncapped player, will take Hosein’s place on the reserves list.

Hosein has represented the West Indies in nine One-Day Internationals and six 20-20 Internationals. While the 28-year-old hasn’t played much international cricket, his domestic statistics speak for themselves.

The left-arm spinner has taken 36 wickets in 57 T20 outings, conceding less than 6.5 runs per over.

West Indies lost their first warm-up game to Pakistan by seven wickets, led by Kieron Pollard. After electing to bat, the West Indies batsmen were sluggish to get going, scoring only 130 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

With more than four overs to spare, Pakistan chased down the 131-run goal.
