In Abu Dhabi, Jason Roy smashes a “Jurassic Six” against Bangladesh

On Wednesday, England’s Super 12 match against Bangladesh in the Current T20 World Cup saw Jason Roy at his amazing best. In Abu Dhabi, the opener hit a half-century to help his team win by eight wickets. In pursuit of a 125-run goal, Roy hit 61 off 38 balls as England raced to 126 for two in 14.1 overs. Fans praised the swashbuckling batter on social media, and even the tournament’s official social media accounts pay homage to his performance.

The 31-year-old smashed a Mahedi Hasan delivery over long-on for a six on the third delivery of the seventh over. Although the shot was magnificent, Bangladesh’s Mohammad Naim made a diving attempt near the ropes but was unable to capture it.

ICC shared a video of the boundary on Instagram, as well as a fan sitting on top of a dinosaur-like plush creature. “A Jurassic six from Jason Roy,” the video’s caption read.

This was Roy’s sixth half-century in T20Is, and he has yet to score a century in the format.

Bangladesh initially produced 124 for nine in 20 overs, with Mushfiqur Rahim top-scoring with 29 in 30 deliveries.

Tymal Mills was in fine form for England, taking three wickets in four overs. Meanwhile, Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone both received two dismissals.

With two wins from two games, Eoin Morgan’s side now leads Group 1 with two wins from two games. Bangladesh is fifth in the six-team standings, having suffered two defeats.
