KKRvsDC:KKR win a crucial game against Delhi Capitals

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 3 wickets with 10 balls to spare to inch ahead in the mid-table in the race for the playoff spots. DC are still placed second in the pecking order with eight wins and 16 points, while two-time winners KKR find themselves in the fourth position with five wins and six defeats.

KKR opener Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi departed inside the powerplay after giving a good start in their run-chase of 128 runs. However, Shubman Gill anchored KKR’s run-chase as they reached 67/2 after 10 overs, still needing 61 runs off 60 balls but soon the classy right-hander departed. DC bowlers made a good comeback as they picked up regular wickets to take the game deep. A resilient Nitish Rana gave some stability to the sinking KKR ship in the middle overs as the batting side reached 98/5 after 15 overs. Sunil Narine counter-attacked while Rana hit the winning runs to take KKR home. Earlier, DC were restricted to 127/9 in their 20 overs by KKR after being asked to bat first as KKR bowlers started strongly and put a lid on DC’s scoring through regular wickets. KKR made two changes, bringing in Tim Southee and Sandeep Warrier in place of Andre Russell and Prasidh Kirishna. DC replaced Prithvi Shaw with Steve Smith in the final XI.
