Mitchell Starc’s hysterical “four takes”
Being a modern-day cricketer is a difficult task. Not only must one repeatedly demonstrate their credentials on the job, but they must also appear in front of the camera for numerous promotional events. Speaking in front of a camera is difficult, as ICC’s latest post with Mitchell Starc demonstrated. The International Cricket Council (ICC) took to social media ahead of Australia’s forthcoming T20 World Cup Super 12 match against Sri Lanka to share an amusing encounter with the Australian pacer, who needed four takes to say one sentence. The batsman was tasked with welcoming spectators to the competition, but he faltered a few times before ultimately nailing it.
“One line. Four takes. Not as easy as it sounds, right?”, ICC asked fans.
The video begins with Starc failing right away in the first attempt and then laughing it off.
“Welcome to the ICC Men’s…Try again”, he started.
“I am Mitch Starc, welcome to the ICC Men’s World..”
He even received a round of applause from the media crew after his second effort.
In his third effort, the 31-year-old again failed and could only say, “Welcome to the ICC…”
With a delighted grin on his face, he eventually nailed the line on his fourth attempt. “Welcome to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup”, he stated.
Fans reacted positively to the video, with many commenting with laughing emojis.
