MS Dhoni is the first captain to manage his team in 300 T20 matches
On Friday, former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni became the first captain to lead 300 T20 matches. Dhoni accomplished this achievement while captaining Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2021 final versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Dubai International Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. Dhoni has won every major T20 Trophy in the world while leading Chennai Super Kings, India, and Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL, CL T20, Asia Cup, and T20 World Cup.
Daren Sammy, a West Indian legend, is second on the all-time list, having captained Peshawar Zalmi, Rajshahi Kings, St Lucia, St Lucia Stars, St Lucia Zouks, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Titans, West Indies, West Indies XI, and Windward Islands in 208 T20 matches.
Virat Kohli, who has led India and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 185 matches, is ranked third.
Eoin Morgan won the toss and chose to bowl first against MS Dhoni’s team on the field. Chennai super kings have won the IPL three times, and after a poor showing in the 2020 season in the UAE, the franchise has made a stunning recovery this year, with Dhoni’s players reaching the finals thanks to some bold cricket.
KKR, on the other hand, was entirely out of contention in India’s leg, having won only two of their seven games. However, a trip to the United Arab Emirates changed everything.
With the addition of Venkatesh Iyer, the batting order received a much-needed boost, and the Kolkata-based team has been playing brave cricket. This season, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, and Rahul Tripathi have also performed admirably.
