Rassie Van Der Dussen of South Africa seals the victory over Pakistan by hitting a boundary on the final ball

South Africa defeated Pakistan in a last-ball thriller to win by six wickets in a T20 World Cup 2021 warm-up match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. Rassie Van Der Dussen stole the show as he led his team to victory, scoring a boundary off Hasan Ali on the final ball of the 20th over. In a high-scoring battle, the match came down to the final. Pakistan kept the pressure on South Africa, who needed 19 runs off the final six balls. On a sluggish and dry track in Abu Dhabi, Van Der Dussen and David Miller had an uphill task.

Both batters, on the other hand, came out firing, each hitting a six in the first three balls of the over.

Pakistan was still in the game, as they needed to defend five runs off the final two deliveries to win. With 93 runs on the board, Van Der Dussen had other ideas. South Africa cruised past the opposition’s 187-run goal with to the powerful right-two hander’s successive boundaries.

Van Der Dussen also reached his century in 51 balls during the process. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released a video of the thrilling final between South Africa and Pakistan.

Pakistan batted first and achieved a competitive 186/6 in 20 overs. Fakhar Zaman smashed a 52-run half-century in just 28 balls. Kagiso Rabada bowled superbly to claim three wickets.

Other than Van Der Dussen, Temba Bavuma contributed with a magnificent 46-run knock in 42 balls.

This was South Africa’s second warm-up win in as many games. They had previously defeated Afghanistan by 41 runs.
