Sunil Gavaskar on India’s 10-wicket loss to Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021: “Absolute Hammering”

Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary cricketer, did not mince words when speaking about India’s humiliating loss to Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai. During the post-match show on Star Sports, Gavaskar described the 10-wicket loss as an “awful hammering.” Pakistan dominated the game, chasing down the target with more than 13 balls remaining. Gavaskar was not pleased with the setback, saying, “The loss is an utter thrashing as far as India is concerned.”

Despite the defeat, Gavaskar stated that the competition had only just begun and that India needed to regroup and prepare for the remaining matches.

“Hopefully, India will swiftly recover, since this is critical. You must put this game behind you and concentrate on the upcoming contests “he continued.

Pakistan opened with a bang, restricting India to 151/7 in their 20 overs. The Indian top-order was shredded by Shaheen Afridi, who claimed three wickets, including Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and finally skipper Virat Kohli.

Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan did not let the opposition bowlers settle into any kind of lines and lengths as they chased down the mark in 17.5 overs without losing a wicket after a spirited bowling performance.

Babar and Rizwan each struck half-centuries and combined 152 for an undefeated opening stand that helped their team win the first-ever T20 World Cup match against India.

New Zealand is the next opponent for both India and Pakistan.
