In ’83,’ Tahir, who plays renowned batsman Sunil Gavaskar, said: “I can’t wait for ’83’ to hit theatres, and what a day it has planned! It’s appropriate given the film’s buzz since ’83’ has the ability to transform theatres into cricket stadiums where we root and chant for India.”

“It’s a film about how an underdog India went on to win the World Cup, a watershed moment in not only our cricketing history but also for every Indian living anywhere in the world!”

Tahir continued, ” “A Christmas release will provide us with the audience that a film of this magnitude deserves. ’83’ is Kabir sir’s labour of love and enthusiasm for the Indian cricket squad, which wowed the world with their tenacity.”

In addition, the actor will appear in ‘Looop Lapeta’ as a love lead opposite Taapsee Pannu and in ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein,’ in which he will star alongside Shweta Tripathi.
