“Very Special Franchise:” Sunil Gavaskar Lauds Chennai Super Kings After Their IPL Qualifier 1 Victory Over Delhi Capitals

After a thrilling four-wicket win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in Qualifier 1 to qualify for another Indian Premier League (IPL) final, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) received high appreciation from former India captain Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar praised the squad, calling it “special” not only for its on-field accomplishments but also for what it meant to supporters all around the world. “This is a really special franchise,” Gavaskar stated on Star Sports’ post-match show.

Gavaskar explained how last season’s failure to make the playoffs impacted normal operations in the CSK camp.

“Before last year, this was a team that had always made the playoffs. So, yeah, their failure to qualify for the playoffs had to be an aberration, given how well they’ve recovered. They’ve returned with a vengeance. It’s incredible, to say the least ” Says the former captain of India.”

Sunil also praised CSK’s administration and its player-friendly environment. According to him, the fact that they have such strong fan and player devotion demonstrates how well the franchise is operated both on and off the field.

“The fans have invested so much in this franchise… Having such a large fan base just goes to show what this series is all about “he stated.

“As I have stated, if Mumbai Indians do not win, I would prefer CSK to win. At CSK, I’ve had some of my best cricketing moments. There is a very player-friendly administration there… That is why, even among admirers, there is such a strong sense of commitment. The supporters in Chennai are well-versed in the game; in fact, they are well-versed in the game ” Gavaskar added.
