Virat Kohli slams the umpire after a poor LBW decision against KKR in the IPL 2021 Eliminator

Virat Kohli isn’t one to hide his emotions on the field, and he rarely does. After a disappointing LBW ruling on Monday, on-field umpire Virender Sharma was chastised by the RCB captain. Despite the ball plainly striking his pads first before coming in contact with the bat during Kolkata Knight Riders’ chase in the Eliminator, Rahul Tripathi was ruled not out. The decision was reviewed by RCB, and the third umpire overruled the on-field umpire’s ruling. Kohli, on the other hand, wasn’t satisfied with merely getting the wicket. He threw the ball on the ground violently before going up to the umpires and criticising them.

An enraged Kohli had an intense debate with Virender Sharma about the umpiring.

Virat Kohli was clearly frustrated with Virender Sharma’s overall umpiring performance throughout the match, and his fury finally boiled over following the LBW blunder.

Virender Sharma made two questionable calls during RCB’s innings, both of which were overturned by third umpire Anil Chaudhary.

Despite leathering the ball onto his pads, Virender Sharma dismissed RCB’s Shahbaz Ahmed for LBW in the 15th over. Glenn Maxwell, who was on the non-end, striker’s was dissatisfied with the ruling and spoke with the umpire briefly.

After dismissing Harshal Patel LBW off Shivam Mavi’s bowling in the last over of the match, Virender Sharma came under fire once more. Replays revealed that there was an inside edge this time and that the impact was also way outside off.

The ruling was overruled by the third umpire once more, although it cost RCB another run.

Sunil Narine was a star with the ball, taking four wickets for 21 runs in his four overs as RCB stuttered to 138 for seven in their 20 overs.

KKR were always in command of the chase, despite a few hitches in the middle. RCB had a ray of hope thanks to some tight bowling and bad batting, but Kolkata held their composure to finish the game and accomplish the mark with two balls to spare.

In Qualifier 2, KKR will face Delhi Capitals, with the winner going on to face Chennai Super Kings in the final.
