After a six-run loss to Scotland in the 2017 T20 World Cup on Sunday, Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah was compelled to interrupt his post-match press conference. Bangladesh’s star-studded team could only muster 134 runs in their allotted 20 overs while chasing 141 for victory. Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah was taking media questions after the match, however, he had to wait for a few seconds as Scotland players celebrated their victory by signing their national hymn loudly. The Bangladesh captain waited patiently for the Scotland players to conclude their national anthem before continuing to answer questions from the media.

Cricket Scotland rushed to Twitter to publish a clip from the press conference, stating that “Sorry, we’ll keep it down next time.”

They also praised Mahmudullah for remaining calm in a subsequent tweet.

After failing to chase down a target of 141 against Scotland, Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah stated his batsmen were not up to the task and that the team needed to step up their game in the future games.

“I believe the wicket was fairly decent, and a score of 140 was within reach. We were oblivious to the fact that there was a big one in the middle. The bowlers did an excellent job, but the batsmen were not up to the task tonight “Says Mahmudullah,” he says.

“Yes, when you can’t chase 140, you need to check-in and address your faults. We must remain optimistic and identify where we made mistakes rather than trying to repeat them. We need to pull our socks up and play better cricket on this beautiful track to bat on, with a terrific ground and crowd “Added he.
